The North East Comprehensive School opened its doors in September of 2006 as the sole Secondary School in the North-Eastern District of Dominica. The school population was created out students from the St. Andrews High School, a Methodist-run institution, and the Marigot Secondary School, both of which subsequently closed down.
The school serves the communities of Calibishe, Woodfordhill, Wesley, Marigot, Concord, Atkinson, and the Carib Territory. As the youngest Secondary School on the island, N.E.C.S. already holds several accolades including Kiwani’s Debating Championships for two years running.
The school is headed by the principal, Mrs. Chandler Hyacinth, along with a management team which includes several Vice Principals and Heads of Departments.
Presently, the school population is about 680 students.
